Bookish Naughty and Nice

Received an ARC and not reviewed it.

NICE

I just started this blog in June of this year, well actually May 31st was my first post. But in that short time, I have read and reviewed each book that I have received. However, I am a bit behind on my NetGalley account, bbut I do intend on reading and reviewing them.

Rated a book on Goodreads and promised a full review was to come on your blog (and never did).

Nice

This isn’t something I’ve faced yet. I’m sure at some point it will happen.

I forgot

Folded down the page of a book.

Naughty

This is something I used to do regularly through high school but shortly afterward I switched over to bookmarks. Mainly old receipts and spare sheets of paper, even though I have nice bookmarks. 🙂

Accidentally spilled on a book.

Naughty

Yep, I’m that person. I love to have something to drink and munch on while I read and I’m pretty clumsy. So, those two don’t tend to go together well. It isn’t uncommon to have a page or two with something on it. (NOTE: Personal books only. I don’t eat when I am reading a borrowed book.)

Spilled on a book

Bought a book purely because it was pretty with no intention of reading it.

Nice

I only buy books that I plan on reading.

Read whilst you were meant to be doing something else (like homework).

Naughty

ALL THE TIME!! I figure I can clean the house or do laundry “later.” The work won’t do itself, so it will still be there when I can get to it.

I'm Reading, It can wait.

Skim read a book.

Nice

I’m actually just the opposite. I take my time reading so that I can catch everything and remember the details of the book.

Completely missed your Goodreads goal.

Nice

This year, 2018, is the first year that I have ever set a goal through Goodreads and I have already surpassed it.

Borrowed a book and not returned it to the library.

Naughty and Nice

Depends on how far back you want me to go. I did do this once in high school. However, I have not done this as an adult.

One Time

Started a review, left it for ages then forgot what the book was about.

Nice

Nope, Once I finish reading a book I need to write the review within a week or two. If I go longer than that because of the fear of this happening! Forgetting what the book was about and the important details that I want to share.

Wrote in a book you were reading.

Naughty

If it is a personal development book, I will write all over it and make notes about my thoughts and feelings. However, any other books, there will be limited notes or marks. Those limited marks are usually noting key quotes.

DNF a book this year.

Naughty

I had one book that I didn’t finish. It was so technically in-depth and the content was overwhelming with massive amounts of detail…I just couldn’t finish it. I read to relax, not to feel like I’m in a debriefing.

DNF

Finished a book and not added it to your Goodreads.

Nice

I don’t always update Goodreads timely, however, all books that I read are noted on my account.

This last year, in the development of my blog, I created a new Goodreads account to correspond with my blog. So I have not transferred over all the books read from my previous account.

Have less than 60% feedback rating on NetGalley.

Naughty

I am currently sitting at 50%. This is something that stresses me out a bit. I want it to be higher which will be one of my goals for 2019. I currently have 6 books that I need to read, to be caught up but there are always new books that are being released on NetGalley. It’s just so hard to not request more. I always seem to get myself in a pickle with requesting books.

Need more books

Borrowed a book and not returned it to a friend.

Nice

I always return books that I borrow from friends. I know how much it would bother me to not have my book returned. So, it is a must to return the books and in the same condition that they gave it to me.

Dodged someone asking if they can borrow a book.

Naughty

There are favorites of mine that I will not loan out.

Broke a book buying ban.

Naughty

For sure! I’m always mentioning that I have to read the books that I have first before I buy any more. However, there is always a new book that I just can’t pass up.

more books

Broke the spine of someone else’s book.

Nice

I’ve always returned a book in the same manner that I received it.

Took the jacket off a book to protect it and ended up making it more damaged.

Naughty

For some reasons reading a book with the jacket on, really bothers me. The way it shifts and then it interferes with holding the book, I just need to take them off. So, unfortunately, I may have stained a few covers. See previous clumsy post. 🙂

Sat on a book accidentally.

Nice

I can’t say that I have had this happen.

Final Score:10/20

I tag: YOU!💜

Let me know how you score! ❤

Hey All!  This is my first Blogger Recognition Award and I am so excited to be a part of it!  First, I want to say thank you to  @bibliosmiacDC , and @ForeverLostInT2 for nominating me!

The idea for a blog came about some time ago as I was scrolling through Twitter and looking for book bloggers to follow, as I was always looking for insight on the next book to read.  I had been reading quite a bit and thought as I was scrolling through the book blogger list, that I could do this.  I love books. I would love to share my thoughts and my opinions on the books that I read, and I have a bit of background in computers. So, I thought, what the heck, I’ll give it a try. Now, almost 6 months into blogging, I have found it as a great outlet to connect with others, and to share my love of books with others that appreciate them as much as I do…Oh, and the book community, is absolutely awesome!

As for my advice, work on your blog because you love it. If you don’t love blogging, then it will become a chore.  Starting out, for most, there is a learning curve, and it can take time to generate a following (which can be frustrating at times). However, if you love it, give it time.  Keep at it because you want to keep at it.  Keep blogging for the love of what you’re doing, and what you’re contributing to the community (no matter your niche).  For me, it just so happens to be for the love of books.

For The Love Of Books

On the technical side, my advise would be to make sure you are adding in all the extra data behind your images.  Once you add your image to your post, click on it. then select the pencil and it will bring up the following screen.Technical advise_LI

Add descriptive text to the Title, Alt Text, and Description box. This will help with your SEO (Search Engine Optimization).

Hope this helped. I look forward to reading your advice for new bloggers.
